The East Central Community College women’s soccer team remained undefeated on the season with a 5-0 non-division win over the Meridian Community College’s Lady Eagles in Bailey Stadium in Decatur on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
The win improved East Central’s record to 9-0 on the season. It is the longest winning streak in program history, topping last year’s then-record eight straight victories to open the 2015 season.
East Central Community College in Decatur is making it easier than ever for prospective students to enroll in classes, as members of a new student recruiting team will be visiting high schools throughout the district this fall and spring.

East Central Community College recognized numerous scholarship recipients and donor representatives during the annual ECCC Scholarship Awards Reception held recently on the Decatur campus.
During the event, 118 students received 130 Foundation scholarships valued at $99,574.

East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis players won 18 singles and doubles matches at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships, with freshman Tom Langelaar winning a singles title.
The regionals were held Sept. 21-24 at host Meridian Community College.
Langelaar of Veldhoven, Netherlands, won the men’s singles back draw by winning five straight matches. He defeated sophomore Chris Crapps of Hinds Community College 8-6 in the finals.

The East Central Community College men’s soccer team fell to Pearl River Community College 1-0 in overtime Friday, Sept. 23, in Bailey Stadium, but went on the road to defeat Copiah-Lincoln Community College 2-1 on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Sophomore forward Will Stewart of Newton County High School made both goals in the Co-Lin match-up.
East Central was able to get on the board first with Stewart’s first half goal assisted by Blake Bonds of Germantown High School.

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team beat Pearl River Community College 1-0 in two overtimes in non-division action Friday, Sept. 23.
The victory over the defending MACJC state champions improved ECCC to 8-0 on the season.
The match remained scoreless through 90 minutes and had to go into double overtime before freshman forward Sierra Maness of Corinth High School was able to score with four minutes remaining.

The East Central Community College Warrior football team ended a 13-game losing-streak to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs with a 42-28 victory in Bailey Stadium in Decatur Thursday, Sept. 22.
The last time ECCC beat Gulf Coast was in 2002 with a 28-21 win over the Bulldogs.
