The public is invited to “Meet the Warriors” when East Central Community College hosts the annual pep rally and student-athlete introductions event scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, at Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.

ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart will welcome the anticipated large crowd for the event and provide comments about the upcoming athletics seasons.

Coming off the best season in 16 years, fourth-year East Central Community College head football coach Ken Karcher anticipates another successful season for the Warriors in 2016.

East Central finished the 2015 season ranked No. 10 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Top 20 poll after winning the C.H.A.M.P.S Heart of Texas Bowl last December.

Karcher’s squad will have to continue improving on both sides of the ball in order to carry last year’s success into the 2016 season.

New and transfer students planning to attend 2016 fall classes at East Central Community College can register for classes on the Decatur campus on Thursday, Aug. 11. It is the final registration session before fall classes begin Monday, Aug. 15.
 

East Central Community College student Ryan Hill of Forest was awarded a $500 Clifford H. "Ted" Rees, Jr., Scholarship, in recognition of his successful participation in the recent SkillsUSA Championships in the HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) category.

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis teams were both named to the 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s All-Academic Teams released this week.
 
In addition to the team honors, nine ECCC tennis players were also honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes for their academic performance during the 2015-16 school year.
 
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above.
