It was a battle on Thursday night, Feb. 3, but the East Central Community College Lady Warriors ended a three-game losing streak with a stellar 59-49 win over the East Mississippi Lady Lions. With the win, the Lady Warriors improve to 8-9, 4-6 on the year, while the Lady Lions fall to 8-10, 5-5.

Numerous students competed in the Mississippi Region III SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Olympics held Jan. 28 at East Central Community College in Decatur. Award winners and their respective schools or centers are listed below.

The East Central Community College football team capitalized on National Signing Day on Wednesday as the Warriors picked up 25 players to join the team for the 2022 season. 

The Warriors are coming off a 3-6, 2-4 season in 2021 and looked to add the right pieces to build on that record going into the summer.

Mother nature got the win today in McComb as both of the ECCC tennis matches against the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears were suspended in the middle of play due to rain. 

The rain began to fall as soon as the doubles teams were taking the court at 2 p.m., which resulted in a three-hour delay in play. The teams finally got back on the courts at 5 p.m. and got two hours of action in before the weather came through for a second time, forcing the suspension.

East Central Community College in Decatur has announced pre-tryout clinics and tryout dates for those interested in being a part of the 2022-23 Cheerleading Team.

All clinics and tryouts will be held in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur. Additional information on tryout requirements, what to bring, and registration and waiver forms can be found on the Cheer page at www.ecccathletics.com. All fees are non-refundable.

East Central Community College will officially open the new Thomas W. Carson Band Hall with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8. The public is invited to attend.

Dr. Justin Sharp, East Central Community College music/keyboard instructor, was selected the college’s Humanities Teacher of the Year and will present a special program Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2:25 p.m. in the Vickers Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Decatur campus. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

The Lady Warriors of East Central Community College had a tough loss on Monday night, January 31, as the team traveled to Wesson to take on the Co-Lin Lady Wolves. ECCC fell in the contest, 77-45, and dropped to 7-9, 3-6 on the year. Co-Lin improved to 11-7, 5-4 on the year.

The East Central Community College Warriors fired off a 12-1 run in the final three minutes on Monday night, January 31, but it was not enough as the Co-Lin Wolves took down ECCC in Brackeen-Wood Gymanisum, 74-66. The loss dropped the Warriors to 4-11, 2-7 on the year, while the Wolves improved to 6-11, 3-6.

The East Central Community College Gospel Choir will present a Virtual Black History Month Celebration at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
