ECCC to Hold Cheerleader Tryouts April 7, Clinics April 3-5

East Central Community College in Decatur will hold tryouts for the 2018-19 Cheerleading Squad from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 7, 2018, in the South Campus Gymnasium. There is a $25 fee for all participants.

Pre-tryout clinics will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 3-5 in the South Campus Gymnasium. During these sessions, participants will learn the cheer, fight song routine and stunts necessary for tryouts. Those wishing to tryout must attend at least one clinic.

ECCC Performing Arts Groups to Hold Workshops, Auditions

East Central Community College will hold workshops and/or auditions this spring for 2018-19 performing arts groups, including the Drum Line, Color Guard, Centralettes dance line, Drum Major, Concert Choir and  Vocé a cappella ensemble.

Drum Line auditions will be accepted by video submission only and are due by Wednesday, February 28. Requirements can be found at www.eccc.edu/eccc-wall-o-sound.

Attend ECCC Workshop

Area educators recently attended the annual High School Counselors’ Workshop at East Central Community College in Decatur, where they were provided information on academic transfer, career-technical and healthcare programs, ACT testing, financial aid, scholarships, housing and admissions.

 

ECCC Receives Clean Fifth-Year Interim Report From SACSCOC

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the accrediting body for East Central Community College in Decatur, has accepted the college’s Fifth-Year Interim Report with no additional information requested.

ECCC submitted its Fifth-Year Interim Report, along with its Quality Enhancement Plan Impact Report, in September 2017. SACSCOC’s decision on those reports came at its annual board meeting held in Dallas in December.

East Central Softball Splits Road Doubleheader at Marion Military

The East Central Community College Lady Warrior softball team scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to grab a 5-4 second game win over Marion Military Institute Monday, Feb. 12, and salvage a doubleheader split with the Lady Tigers.

Marion Military won the opener 9-1 in the doubleheader played in Marion, Ala.

East Central, ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA Division II Softball Poll, is now 3-1 overall on the season. Division I Marion Military is 6-4.
