ECCC Women’s Soccer Wins Fifth Straight Season-Opening Match

Aubree Patterson netted the game-winning goal to give the East Central Community College women’s soccer team its fifth straight season-opening win, a 1-0 shutout of Motlow State Community College Saturday, Aug. 26.

The match against the Lady Bucks from Tullahoma, Tenn., was played on the Meridian Community College campus in Meridian.

Patterson, a sophomore midfielder out of Richland, found the net with 41 minutes left to play in the first half for the only score in the match.

ECCC Warrior Soccer Shuts Out Meridian in Season Opener

The East Central Community College men’s soccer team opened its 2017 season in a strong way with a 5-0 shutout of Meridian Community College in a match played in Meridian Friday, Aug. 25.

It was the third straight match the Warriors have held an opponent scoreless after two shutout wins in the exhibition pre-season.

Dylan Shoemaker out of Forest High School got the win in goal.

Underground Utilities Project Underway at East Central Community College

A much-anticipated project to place the majority of the overhead utility lines at East Central Community College underground is underway on the campus in Decatur.

All above-ground electrical, telephone, fiber optic, and other utility lines are being placed underground from Broad Street on the front of campus to 10th Street on the north side of campus.

Work began in June, and the timeline calls for the project to be completed by December 2017.

ECCC’s Annual Meet the Warriors Pep Rally for Fall Sports is Aug. 28

The public is invited to “Meet the Warriors” when East Central Community College hosts the annual pep rally and student-athlete introductions event scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 28, at Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.

Members of ECCC’s football, men’s golf, and men’s and women’s soccer teams will be introduced by their coaches.

Performing groups include the Wall O’ Sound Marching Band, Centralettes dance line, and Warrior cheerleading squad.

ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart will also speak.
