ECCC Men’s Basketball Defeats Meridian 80-74 For Road Win

After falling behind by seven points at the half, the East Central Community College men’s basketball team fought back to beat Meridian Community College 80-74 Monday, Feb. 6, in Meridian.

The Warriors put up 50 points in the second half to earn the road victory.

Sophomore Tonzell Handy out of Lanier High School posted a double-double performance with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Cayman “C.J.” Ruffin of Neshoba Central High School finished with 12 points and Jaylon Bardley of New Hope High School added 11 points and four steals.

ECCC Plans Black History Month Program Feb. 22

East Central Community College will hold its annual Black History Month program Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, on the Decatur campus.

Activities begin at 7 p.m. in the Vickers Fine Arts Center auditorium.

There is no charge for admission.

Pastor Stan Jones from Jerusalem Temple in Philadelphia will serve as guest speaker.

The ECCC Gospel Choir sponsors the Black History Program and will also perform.

ECCC to Offer Home Maintenance and Repair Course in Philadelphia Beginning Feb. 13

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Home Maintenance and Repair Course at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career & Technical Center beginning Monday, Feb. 13, 2017.

The class will meet from 6 to 9 pm. on Monday nights for eight consecutive weeks.

Cost to attend is $150 per person and James Boykin will serve as instructor.

ECCC to Offer Welding Course in Louisville Beginning Feb. 7

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Welding course at the Louisville/Winston County Career & Technical Center beginning Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017.

The class will meet from 3 to 9 pm. Tuesday through Thursday for three consecutive weeks. Instruction includes GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW processes.

Cost to attend is $150 per person and Shane McDaniel will serve as instructor.
