ECCC to Close for Spring Break March 14-18

East Central Community College in Decatur will be closed for its annual Spring Break Holidays Monday through Friday, March 14-18, 2022.
The college will reopen on Monday morning, March 21.
Laura Thorne Memorial Scholarship Established at ECCC

Family and friends of the late Laura Reeves Thorne have established a scholarship at East Central Community College in her memory.
The Laura Reeves Thorne Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a resident of Newton County who has a 3.0 grade-point average in high school, is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (two-year minimum), is willing to serve as an FCA intern while a student at East Central, and has a letter of recommendation from FCA leadership or home church pastor.

ECCC Golf has Top-5 Finish at Dancing Rabbit

The East Central Community College golf team had a top-five finish in their home event of the 2021-22 season. The East Central Spring Invitational was played on the Azalea course at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club, a premier facility in Mississippi. The event, which served as the fifth conference event of the season, featured an all-MACCC lineup made up of nine teams.

The No. 12 East Central Community College Warriors moved to 12-2 on the year on Saturday, March 5, with a couple of wins over the Tyler Junior College Apaches out of Texas. The wins mark the fifth and sixth straight wins for ECCC.

ECCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Organization Named REACH Chapter by National Office

East Central Community College’s Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has been named a 2022 REACH Chapter by the National PTK Office.
PTK’s REACH Rewards program recognizes PTK chapters nationwide that excel in membership development.
As part of the recognition, ECCC will receive special Phi Theta Kappa graduation stoles to be worn by chapter officers and members during the college’s Spring Commencement Ceremonies on May 6.
