East Central Community College in Decatur will hold an Orientation Session Thursday, Jan. 3, for those new students who wish to attend ECCC during the spring 2019 semester and have yet to register for classes.

The East Central Community College basketball teams opened MACJC South Division play Dec. 3 with a couple of tough road losses to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the Weathers-Wentzell Center on the MGCCC campus in Perkinston.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer various new classes throughout the district beginning in February Courses and locations are listed below.

DECATUR

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA): Begins Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, and will meet from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for six consecutive weeks in the Sutphin ADN/Childcare Building. Clinical dates and times will be announced at a later date. Theresa Cole and Niva Alexander will serve as instructors.

The East Central Community College Small Business Development Center will offer a free seminar on “First Steps-The Process of Starting a Small Business” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at the Carthage Career Advancement Center, located at 121 West Main Street, Carthage.

This seminar will include basic steps in starting your own business. Topics will include licenses and permits, legal forms of ownership, basic marketing concepts, lending terminology and outlining a business plan.

The East Central Community College softball program will hold its first Strike Zone Report/Softball Showcase on Jan. 26, 2019, at the ECCC Softball Park on the campus in Decatur.

The event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. is for softball players who will graduate high school in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024.

The East Central Community College softball program will host a new series of “Thursday Nights Under the Lights” training during January 2019 for softball players in grades 7-12.

The camps will be under the direction of new head softball coach Eric Neel and assistant coach Emily Church, as well as current Lady Warrior softball players.
