Registration is underway at East Central Community College in Decatur for Spring 2019 Intensive Term II on-campus and online courses.

The last day to register for Spring 2019 Intensive Term II on-campus courses is Thursday, Feb 28. Classes begin on Wednesday, Feb. 27, and end May 2.

Among the classes offered include Introduction to Business, English Composition I, General Physical Education, College Algebra, and Calculus II.

East Central Community College will hold its annual Black History Month program Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, on the Decatur campus.

Activities begin at 7 p.m. in the Vickers Fine Arts Center auditorium.

There is no charge for admission.

Philadelphia Mayor James Young will serve as guest speaker.

The ECCC Gospel Choir sponsors the Black History Program and will also perform.

Ron Perkins of Louisville, a former Diamond Warrior and captain of the 1998 state championship team, will be the featured speaker at the annual East Central Community College Baseball First Pitch Dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. The event will be held in the Mabry Memorial Cafeteria on the Decatur campus.

The East Central Community College Lady Warriors jumped on the Hinds Lady Bulldogs early and never let up in posting a 77-44 MACJC South Division win Thursday, Jan. 24, at J.D. Boyd Gym in Utica. In the men’s action, a furious second-half comeback by the ECCC Warriors fell two points short as the Hinds Bulldogs picked up a 78-76 win.

Jay Pacelli enters his fourth spring as East Central Community College’s tennis coach with high expectations for both his men’s and women’s teams as the 2019 season gets underway Feb. 1 in Marion, Ala., against Marion Military Institute.

Pacelli’s men’s team will be 10-deep this spring with a lot to prove after a disappointing 2018 season.

A last-second jumper by Jones College’s Winceton Edwards sent the game to overtime and the Bobcats would eventually pull out a 71-69 win over the East Central Community College Warriors in basketball action Thursday, Jan. 17, in A.B. Howard Gymnasium in Ellisville. The No. 8 ranked Jones Lady Bobcats scored an 84-56 win over the ECCC Lady Warriors in the first game of the evening.

With the loss, the ECCC Warriors fell to 7-6 overall on the season in 0-4 in MACJC South Division play. Jones improved to 7-4 and 3-1.
