ECCC Basketball Teams Split Games at East Mississippi

Riding a strong third period by sophomore guard Autumn Taylor, the East Central Community College Lady Warriors remained undefeated with an 85-76 road win over the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions Thursday, Nov. 9, in Scooba.

In the men’s action that followed, East Central could not hold on to a four-point halftime lead and fell 65-58 to the EMCC Lions.

Registration for Spring Term 2018 Classes Underway at East Central Community College

Registration for spring 2018 semester classes is underway at East Central Community College in Decatur.

Classes begin on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018. The deadline to enroll is Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Online courses begin Tuesday, Jan. 16. The last day to register for online classes is Wednesday, Jan. 17.

ECCC Women Win, Men Fall in Basketball Season Openers Against Coahoma

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams opened their 2017-18 seasons Thursday, Nov. 2, splitting with the teams from Coahoma Community College in games played in Brackeen-Wood Gym in Decatur.

ECCC Gospel Choir Concert Scheduled Nov. 15

The East Central Community College Gospel Choir will present its annual fall concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, in the Vickers Fine Arts Center on the Decatur campus. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

The Rev. Johnny Jones of Newton, a former gospel choir member, will be guest speaker. Zashanti Bender, a student and member of the choir at Newton County High School, will be a guest performer.

Brenda Johnson serves as sponsor of the ECCC Gospel Choir.

ECCC Golfers Take 5th Place in NJCAA National Preview

The East Central Community College golf team finished in fifth place and sophomore David Barry finished ninth in the individual standings at the National Junior College Athletic Association D-II National Preview Tournament Oct. 30-31 at Glen Lakes Golf Club in Foley, Ala.

The Warriors, currently ranked No. 10 nationally by golfstat.com, shot a 64-over par 928 over the 54-hole tournament. Barry, out of West Jones High School, shot an eight-over par 224 to finish in ninth place.
