The East Central Community College Board of Trustees today opened its search for the ninth president of the Decatur college.
Dr. Billy Stewart, the college’s president since February 2012, recently announced his retirement effective July 1, 2020.

Henry Booth
Henry Booth of Lawrence has been appointed to the East Central Community College Board of Trustees representing Newton County.
Booth, a retired schoolteacher and coach and current full-time cattle farmer, assumes the term of Rodney Bounds of Newton, who recently announced his retirement from the Board.

The No. 12 ranked Chipola College Lady Indians defeated the East Central Community College Lady Warriors 70-57 in women’s basketball action Friday, Nov. 22, on the Chipola campus in Marianna, Fla.
The two teams were tied 13-13 after one period, before the Lady Indians took a nine-point lead into the locker room at the half. Chipola surged to an 18-point lead after three periods before a strong final period by East Central closed the gap to the final 13-point margin.

Several East Central Community College student-athletes received honors during the college’s 2019 Fall Sports Awards Banquet held Nov. 21 in Mabry Cafeteria on the campus in Decatur.

East Central Community College Art Instructor Jeffrey Hodges, along with LeeReyna Lopez Leyva, an instructor at Hinds Community College, have collaborated in an art exhibition at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
The show, titled “Earth and Light,” will be on display through Nov. 27, 2019.

Just three days after being swept on the road at East Mississippi, the East Central Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams responded with a road sweep over Holmes Community College Monday, Nov. 18, in Goodman.
The MACJC non-division games were played at the Frank Branch Coliseum on the Holmes campus.
The ECCC Lady Warriors won the opener 83-59. The Warriors came out on top in the second game of the evening 87-75.
