March 30, 2022

The East Central Community College Fine Arts Department will host a variety of concerts and events during the month of April which are free and open to the public.

ECCC’s Student Art Show is scheduled April 4-20 during normal college operating hours. Various works by ECCC students will be on display in the Vickers Fine Arts Center. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, in Vickers Fine Arts Center.

March 30, 2022

Due to the enhanced threat of severe weather during the late afternoon and early evening hours today, Wednesday, March 30, all East Central Community College classes will switch to virtual learning and all offices will close beginning at 2 p.m. All activities and events on campus after the college closes are canceled or postponed. In-person classes will resume and all offices will reopen at regular times on Thursday, March 31.

The East Central Community College Lady Warrior softball team played a top-five team for the second doubleheader in a row on Tuesday afternoon, March 29, as the Lady Warriors traveled to Ellisville to take on the No. 4 Jones College Lady Bobcats. ECCC dropped both games, 8-0 in game one, and 10-2 in game two. With the losses, the Lady Warriors' record moved to 16-14 overall and to 5-7 in MACCC play. Jones improved to 23-6, 11-1 on the year.

The No. 10 East Central Community Warriors took game one in a MACCC doubleheader with Jones College, 4-2, before falling in game two 14-5 on Tuesday afternoon, March 29. The split moved the Warriors' record to 19-8 overall on the year and to 6-6 in conference play, while the Bobcats moved to 18-10, 5-7.

The East Central Community College Warrior tennis team grabbed a key MACCC win over Itawamba March 25, before falling to Meridian at home on Tuesday evening. March 29. The split matches moved the Warriors to 10-7 overall and to 8-6 in MACCC play on the year.

The East Central Community Lady Warrior tennis team dropped two MACCC matchups over the last week with a 7-2 loss to Itawamba on March 25 and a 9-0 loss to Meridian on March 29.

"Our ladies fought tooth and nail in the match against ICC after some slow starts at doubles cost us," said ECCC head coach Jay Pacelli. "Meridian was at full strength and were tough, however, we can improve in our physical and mental play. We are ready to turn the page and take on Gulf Coast."

The East Central Community College Gospel Choir and its alumni are hosting a Retirement Gala and Recognition Banquet Saturday, April 23, in honor of former director Brenda K. Johnson.

Johnson of Lawrence, a graduate of East Central, retired as director of the student group in January after providing leadership for the ECCC Gospel Choir since 1988.
