East Central Community College head football coach Ken Karcher announced the addition of 20 new members to the Warrior football team on National Signing Day Wednesday, Feb. 5.

The newcomers are all high school seniors.

East Central Community College in Decatur is offering a Four-Week Online Term starting in March where students can complete select classes in less than 30 days.

The term begins on Monday, March 9, and ends on Friday, April 3. The last day to register for classes is Monday, March 9

Classes being offered include Accounting I, The Legal Environment of Business, Human Growth and Development, Career Exploration, College Study Skills, and Introduction to Sociology.

East Central Community College will hold its annual Black History Month program Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, on the Decatur campus.

Activities begin at 7 p.m. in the Vickers Fine Arts Center auditorium.

There is no charge for admission.

Tina Gavin, human resource business partner with ESCO-A Weir Group Division, will serve as guest speaker.

The ECCC Gospel Choir sponsors the Black History Program and will also perform.


The 2019 ECCC Men’s Soccer team received its Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Tom Shepard Award for Sportsmanship at a team breakfast Monday, Feb. 3, in Mabry Cafeteria. The No. 20 nationally ranked East Central Community College women’s tennis team opened the 2020 season Friday, Jan. 31, with a 7-2 home win over Itawamba, while the No. 21 ranked Warriors fell to Itawamba 6-3.

The East Central Community College basketball teams suffered a couple of double-digit losses to Southwest on Monday, Jan. 27, in MACJC South Division basketball action in Summit.

The East Central Warriors trailed from start to finish in dropping an 84-68 decision to the Bears, while the Southwest Lady Bears picked up a 61-51 win over the Lady Warriors.
