All options for revenue increases and expenditure reductions for fiscal year 2018 are being considered according to President Dr. Billy Stewart as East Central Community College (ECCC) prepares to deal with a more than $1 million reduction in state appropriations in the upcoming fiscal year. The college is anticipating a reduction of $1,042,151 when the 2018 fiscal year begins on July 1, 2017, which represents a 9.61 percent decrease in state appropriations compared to the original figure from the 2017 fiscal year.

The East Central Community College baseball team picked up a crucial doubleheader sweep over Meridian Community College in Meridian on Tuesday, April 25.
The bats were hot for the Warriors with a 14-0 game one win and an 8-5 win in the nightcap.
With the wins, East Central improved to 29-13 overall and 15-9 in MACJC league play. The Warriors are currently in fifth place in league play with the top nine teams qualifying for post-season play.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer an HVAC Enhancement class at the Carthage Career Advancement Center beginning Monday, May 15, 2017.
The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. for eight consecutive Mondays. Cost is $150 per person and there is an extra $35 fee for EPA testing at the end of the course. Paul Evans will serve as instructor.

This seminar outlines the basic steps to start a business. Topics include financial projections, collateral, personal financial statements, business loan application and other frequently asked questions.
