April 3, 2017

The East Central Community College baseball team dropped a doubleheader against Mississippi Delta Community College by scores of 4-3 and 3-0 Saturday, April 1, at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur.

In game one, the Diamond Warriors took the early lead going up 2-0 in the third inning scoring runs on a fielder’s choice and a single by Cooper Clement of Water Valley. Mississippi Delta quickly responded with four runs of their on in the top of the fourth of the nine-inning affair.

April 1, 2017

The No. 12 East Central Community College Lady Diamond Warriors went on the road Saturday, April 1, and split a pair of softball games with No. 14 ranked Itawamba Community College in Fulton.

Itawamba won the opener by run-rule in six innings 9-1, while East Central came back to win the second game by run-rule in six innings 10-1.

With the split, the Lady Diamond Warriors record is now 29-5 on the season and 14-4 in MACJC league play. Itawamba stands at 21-9 and 10-4 in league play.

The East Central Community College golf team improved eight strokes and jumped two places in Sunday’s final round of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges’ East Mississippi Invitational held at Lion Hills Golf Club in Columbus Saturday and Sunday, April 1-2.

March 29, 2017

A much-anticipated matchup between No. 6 ranked East Central Community College and No 1 ranked Jones County Junior College ended in a doubleheader sweep for JCJC at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur Tuesday, March 28.

The JCJC Bobcats took game one 7-4 and the nightcap 11-6.

The East Central Community College Alumni Association will host its 16th Annual Warrior Golf Classic Thursday, May 11, at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Choctaw.

All proceeds from the tournament again will support the scholarship program at the college. Last year’s tournament raised more than $10,100 for the scholarship program.

The East Central Community College men's and women's tennis teams recorded victories over Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia Wednesday, March 29.

The ECCC women defeated Northwest 6-3 to improve to 6-7 on the season. The No. 17 ranked East Central men won 6-3 to improve their record to 9-4.

The East Central Community College Art Department will host its 2017 Student Art Exhibition beginning Monday, April 17, through Friday, April 28, in the lobby of the Vickers Fine Arts Center Auditorium.

A reception will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in the lobby of the Vickers Fine Arts Center. Refreshments will be served.

The exhibition will feature drawings, paintings, sculpture and designs produced by EC students during the 2016-2017 school year.
