The East Central Community College men’s basketball team won a 122-119 double overtime thriller over Hinds Community College on “Sophomore Night” in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium Thursday, Feb. 23.

The Warrior basketball team earned an NJCAA Region 23 Tournament berth with the win over the Bulldogs.

ECCC started out slow in the first half, trailing Hinds 51-42 at the intermission.

East Central Community College will host “An Evening with C.S. Lewis,” as portrayed by British actor David Payne, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in Huff Auditorium on the Decatur campus.

The public is invited and there is no admission to this event.

East Central Community College freshman Cole Gray has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

The No. 8 ranked East Central Community College Diamond Warriors moved to 5-1 on the season overall after beating Bossier Parish Community College of Louisiana 6-2 and falling to No. 17 Hinds Community College 6-5 on Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Raymond.

In game one against Hinds, the contest was tied 5-5 with Hinds batting in the bottom of the seventh when freshman right-handed pitcher Kolby Crowley of Winston Academy walked a Hinds batter to score the winning run.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a class in Small Engine Repair beginning Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career & Technical Center.

Classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. for eight consecutive Tuesdays. Cost is $150 per person. Gary Sanford will serve as instructor.

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a class in Welding beginning Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Louisville/Winston County Career-Technical Center.

Classes will be held from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for one week. Cost is $150 per person. Shane McDaniel will serve as instructor.

Despite a career-high performance from Laneisha Jeans, the East Central Community College Lady Warriors fell 94-73 to the No. 16 nationally ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats Monday, Feb. 20, in Ellisville.

Jeans of Pine Forest (Fla.) High School led all scorers with a career–high of 25 points. Also, in double-digit scoring were Autumn Taylor of Newton High School with 17 points, six assists and four steals, and Curtisha Coleman of Wayne County High School with 15 points.

The East Central Community College men’s basketball team fell 107-78 to No. 9 nationally ranked Jones County Junior College Monday, Feb. 20, in the Ellisville.

Jones jumped out to an early lead that they never surrendered throughout the game.

Jones led ECCC 54-34 at the half.
