Fans of the East Central Community College Wall O’ Sound Marching Band can look forward to reliving their favorite comic book memories when the 2016 edition of the band performs at halftime of Warrior football games this fall.

According to Ed Girling, director of bands, the Wall O’ Sound’s show this fall is titled “A Day at the Comic Book Store.” The show will feature tunes from favorite comic books and their heroes.

The East Central Tennis Association of Decatur has made a $7,864.09 donation to East Central Community College’s new tennis complex project.

Members of the ECTA board were on the East Central campus recently to present college president Dr. Billy Stewart with a check.

The East Central Community College Warrior football team lost a hard-fought ballgame in front of a standing room only crowd during “Black-Out” night at Bailey Stadium Sept. 1 on the Decatur campus.

The Warriors scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to close the gap, but eventually fell to the Holmes Community College Bulldogs 48-40 during opening week of Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges play.

East Central Community College will honor all military veterans with free admission, recognition, and tailgating when the Warrior football team hosts Northeast Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. in Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.

All military veterans and their families will be admitted free to the MACJC battle and are invited to participate in Warrior Club tailgating activities scheduled on the deck inside Bailey Stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m.

 

ECCC Will ‘Black-Out Bailey’ at Thursday’s Season Opening Football Game

The East Central Community College Warriors will open their 2016 football season Thursday, Sept. 1, against Holmes Community College, and all Warrior fans are encouraged to wear black to the annual “Black-Out Bailey” night.

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team went on the road Aug. 26 and came home with a 3-0 shutout win over Southwest Mississippi Community College in a match played in Summit.

The Lady Warriors are now 2-0 on the young season. It is the fourth straight year the team has started out at least 2-0.

Scoring for East Central were Ashley Langham, a product of Florence High School, Kenzie Jenkins of McLaurin High School, and TaNissa McNair, who prepped at Forest High School.

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams both posted wins over Copiah-Lincoln Community College in season opening matches played Aug. 25 at the ECCC Soccer Field on the Decatur campus.

The East Central women posted a high scoring 12-0 shutout victory over the visiting Co-Lin women’s soccer team.

The East Central men pulled out a 5-2 victory in the nightcap against the Wolves.

East Central Community College’s Small Business Development Center will offer a free seminar on “How to Develop a Business Plan” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2016, at the Neshoba Business Enterprise Center in Philadelphia.

Course topics include industry research, description of company products and services, identifying target customer groups, marketing plans, startup costs and preparation of a projected cash flow statement.
