East Central Community College is offering students an opportunity to experience learning beyond the traditional classroom environment when it introduces Robert Louis Stevenson’s “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” as the common reader for the 2018-19 academic year.

There will be a lot new faces on the soccer pitch for the East Central Community College women’s soccer team in 2018 as the Lady Warriors look to return to the state playoffs after a one-year absence.

Emily Church, who was an integral part of back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference championships while a member of the Jacksonville State University softball team, is the new assistant softball coach at East Central Community College in Decatur.
Church joins the staff of Eric Neel as he begins his first year as head coach of the Lady Warrior program.
Neel said that Church will work with the catchers and pitchers, as well as help with outfielders and recruiting.

Both the East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis teams along with four players from each team have been recognized for academic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The ITA announced the 2018 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on July 24. In all, 735 teams and 4,328 student-athletes across all five divisions of college tennis were honored.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above.

The East Central Community College softball program is hosting a Fall Camp and League for fast-pitch softball players who will be in grades 7-12 during the 2018-19 school year.
The camp will be Sunday, Oct. 21, from 2-5 p.m. Games will be held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from Oct. 22-Nov. 12.
All activity will take place at the ECCC Softball Park on the Decatur campus.
The cost is $130 per person and includes the camp and games.

East Central Community College will host its first Preview Day for dual credit high school students beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, on the campus in Decatur.
The Preview Day is designed to introduce the high school students to ECCC and college life.
